Description & ecology
A facultative, population-specific zinc hyperaccumulator: stem-leaf Zn up to 5,136 ± 284 mg/kg dry weight on the Bukowno Zn–Pb–Cd waste heap (Oleńska et al. 2023, read in open-access full text), versus only 108–231 mg/kg at a non-metalliferous reference site.
Only zinc is listed: foliar cadmium in the same study was ~13 µg/g, below the 100 µg/g threshold. The review by Gieroń et al. (2021) confirms zinc hyperaccumulation in five of six metallicolous populations; the definitive ecophysiology primary (Gieroń et al. 2021, J. Hazard. Mater.) is paywalled and was not read at source.
